Megan & Ross Petersen Wedding

It was a rainy overcast day for Megan & Ross's wedding but that just means that there are some cool clouds to photograph with!

Megan and Ross' wedding day started as a rainy overcast day. But I wasn't worried. We had a great location at the Celebration Barn to photograph their big day! We were able to set-up their first glimpse of each other in the Timber Frame barn, it has a large round window that allowed lots of natural light to shine through out.

A romantic portrait of the big day!

Megan and Ross had their ceremony at the Zion Lutheran Church in Iowa City, it was a beautiful exchange of vows! On our way back to the reception at the Celebration Barn we were able to find an ideal location of tall grass fields to photograph.

These portraits were taken within a few moments of each other. With the knowledge of different lighting techniques, lenses, and camera settings it is possible to get many different looks in the same location

We didn't have a lot of time to capture portraits but we got some amazing shots of Megan and the girls. No sooner did they get on the bus did the rain just let lose, but that didn't stop us from taking some breathtaking portraits in the rain.

When we got back to the Celebration Barn we were able to photograph some additional portraits while we waited for Megan & Ross to be announced. We used overhangs as backgrounds for some stellar bridesmaids and groomsmen portraits.

This is a fun series - somebody said something funny and once Ross started laughing, everyone else had a hard time not laughing too! Tuxedos by Skeffington's Formal Wear

Megan & Ross' wedding reception had the couples signature styles written all over it. The Double Round barn had beautiful cathedral ceilings that made for some great shots. The reception was packed filled with family, friends and most importantly LOVE for the newlyweds!

The whole wedding party was a blast to capture through my lens

The reception was a blast filled with great laughs and a open dance floor allowing for dancing in celebration of Megan & Ross' big day!

Megan & Ross were able to sneak out from the reception and into the venue's amphitheater. We captured some great portraits of the couples using the stormy night sky, what some may say is a disadvantage, but for Megan & Ross it was definitely an advantage to capturing some absolutely memorable portraits

Nikki & Ben's Hotel Vetro Wedding

The day couldn't have been nicer and to tell the truth my job was pretty easy that day.  It's pretty hard to take a bad portrait of Nikki and Ben.  Plus their wedding venue - Hotel Vetro in Iowa City makes for a great location for beautiful portraits.  Nikki wore a stunning Vera Wang wedding dress and selected beautiful yet simple creams and greys as her wedding colors.  I can't wait to design their wedding album with all the simple striking beauty of their day!

Cake by Tip Top Cakes!  Sooo good

These dogs and their owner happened to be walking by as we were taking portraits and we decided to be a little spontaneous

one of my favorites! Nikki was stunning in her Vera Wang Wedding Dress

Ashley & Aaron's wedding

Ashley and Aaron were married this August and I was lucky to be able to spend the whole day with Ashley and Aaron on their wedding day and be there to capture their entire story of their wedding day. I started off at the hair salon capturing candid moments of the girls as they had their hair done and drank mimosas.  Then I met the guys at Aaron's parents house where they were hanging out and getting ready.  Their house was amazing and was the perfect backdrop for portraits.  Ashley arrived awhile later and the guys went to the backyard while the girls took over inside.  I especially loved the vintage feel and texture of Ashley's dress from Laura's Couture Collection.  The small details in the dress really stood out and definitely helped complete the awsomeness of her wedding.  Another great detail was her  lace parasol. I loved the parasol so much that after her wedding I went and bought one for myself in case a future bride wanted to use one.  Their reception was held at the CPMI Event Center in Ames.  I loved the look and details that Ashley had going with the cream and light green accents, fluttering ribbons and tents outside. Ashley's beautiful flowers were created by Cynthia Betts of Weddings in Iowa and the awesome dinner was catered by Occasions Made Right.  Aaron's custom ring was made at Gilger Designs and Ashley's ring was from Christophers Fine Jewelry.

Joanne & Mike

We've had a few weeks of bad weather leading up to Mike & Joanne's wedding but their day ended up perfect.  We started out at Vander Veer park for their first sight and created some beautiful portraits there.  We then headed down to the Adler Theater for some  more portraits.  Mike & Joanne's first date was at the Adler and they wanted to stop in again.  We had lots of fun photographing there and I love the images that were captured.  There were many beautiful moments through out the day - here are a few of my favorites.
